Notebook of domestic and business accounts, notes and inventories, perhaps of a cloth manufacturer or draper, in south-west France (there are frequent references to the town of Colomiers, west of Toulouse). At the front of the book there are accounts, an inventory and notes, 6 April 1792 - 28 September 1794. From the back run domestic and personal accounts, 10 March - 18 May 1793. The notebook includes occasional notes of newspapers purchased.
French Account Book
Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The accounts in the book are marked as paid by 'Dalzon Panat'. At other points the names 'Madame Dalzon' and 'Madame de Panat' appear separately. The name 'Panat' is frequently cancelled. This name may relate to the family of Dominique-Franois Brunet de Castelpers, Marquis de Panat (1752-1795), born at Albi, east of Toulouse. He served in royal armies, was devoted to the ancien rgime, and was elected deputy of the nobility in the Estates General, 1789, for first seneschalcy of Languedoc (Toulouse). He soon quitted the Assembly, emigrated to England, and died in London.
