No biographical information was available regarding Mrs Annie Meiriona Jones who put the poem on record, other than she lived at Bryn Derw, Abergynolwyn, Merioneth.
The actual composer of the poem is believed to be Mary Jones, 1784-1866. She became well-known for walking 25 miles from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant to Bala to buy a Welsh Bible from Thomas Charles, having saved her money over a period of 6 years.
