From Rev. Michael Adler (Editor of Publications), The Jewish Historical Society of England.
4/1 Adler asks Tait for help on the matter of further information about Abraham of Winchester a "unique example of a Jewish guildsman", who is mentioned in a footnote in Tait's The Medieval English Borough.
4/2 Discusses the confusion caused by the names of "B.s. Abraham" the guildsman and the monk "B.s. Licoricia". Also encloses an article of interest to Tait, from the Liverpool Daily Post, 8 Aug 1922, concerning the celebrations of the Preston Guild Merchant.
Of the three inserts, the first, concerning boroughs, is on the back of a letter about personal finance from James's brother, Robert Tait. The second is a list of crossed out place names with some dates. The third, on the back of an invite from Alex J. Grieve recording hangings in the borough of "W"(Winchester?).
