Administrative / Biographical History

By 1829 , New Clyde Shipping Co was established as a shipping company in Glasgow, Scotland. The company operated at least 2 steam packets, the Enterprise and the Aimwell. The company appears to have suffered debts in 1829 and sold the Aimwell in order to off-set these.

In 1829 , the company manager was John Tassie who had offices at 99 Brunswick Street, Glasgow. He managed the company on behalf of its 160 partners. By 1843, the manager was Thomas Gibb.

At a partners' meeting in the Black Bull Inn, Glasgow, in 1843 , it appears that the partners voted to dissolve the company.
