Scope and Content

Collectively called the Crosswood Manuscripts after their Montgomeryshire home, this collection consists of three groups of manuscripts known as the Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) Manuscripts, the John Jenkins (Ifor Ceri) Manuscripts, and the Frances Althea Trevor Manuscripts.

Arrangement

Arranged, as noted in the Handlist of Manuscripts in the National Library of Wales, Volume I (Aberystwyth, 1943), into three groups: Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) Manuscripts (NLW MSS 1641-1812 and 1950-1952); John Jenkins (Ifor Ceri) Manuscripts (NLW MSS 1813-1886); and the Frances Althea Trevor Manuscripts (NLW MSS 1887-1949).

Although the Crosswood Manuscripts are split into three different groups, there are also manuscripts by, or relating to, Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) in both the John Jenkins (Ifor Ceri) and the Frances Althea Trevor groups of manuscripts; similarly, there are manuscripts by or relating to John Jenkins (Ifor Ceri) in both the Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) and the Frances Althea Trevor groups.
