Administrative / Biographical History

The Westbarns Co-operative Society was formed in 1874, providing its members with groceries, baked goods, and flour, and by 1910 it had 412 members at its one branch.

The Society merged with the Dunbar Co-operative Society in 1921 to create the Dunbar and Westbarns Co-operative Society. This Society was eventually amalgamated into the East Lothian Co-operative Society.
