Administrative / Biographical History
The Dunbar and Westbarns Co-operative Society was formed in 1921 following the merger of two smaller local Co-operatives located in Dunbar and Westbarns. It supplied its customers from only one branch situated on the High Street, Dunbar.
In 1940, the society merged with the larger Tranent and Haddington Co-operative Society, and the Duns and District Co-operative society, to form the East Lothian Co-operative Society.
