This letter comments that Hughes seemed discontented with his own speech but that AH had spoken to an intelligent member of Parliament who rated it very high and that AH himself was delighted by a portion referring to the unsuccessful and unprosperous having to be represented. AH writes that he is relating this as Hughes is, "to a certain extent", in a lonely position.
