The letter contains Hughes displeasure at being asked for a private history by the Church Congress Chronicler and how he resists supplying his picture or personal information to publications. Hughes refers to his future attendance at the Croydon [Co-operative] Congress and the CP [Crystal Palace, noted by Hughes son in red ink] general meeting. He also refers to having refused applications from all but two "(so called) liberal boroughs" where his name as been mentioned as a possible candidate [for Parliament].
