Charged with employing Robert Hughes of Pen y Gwaith, Llandudno (a child aged 13) who had not obtained the required certificate either showing his proficiency in reading, writing and elementary arithmetic from a School or of previous attendance at a School. This was contrary to the Elementary Education Acts, 1876, Factory Acts and the Bye Law of the School Board.
Verdict: Guilty. Fined 1s. and also to pay Thomas Evans, the Informant 7s. 6d. in costs. In default of the payment: 7 days imprisonment.
