Scope and Content

John Bradley of 7 Berry Street, Conway.

(1) Charged with, on 29th May 1894, while keeping a common lodging house at 7 Berry Street in which beggars and vagrants were housed, he refused entry to David Morris Roberts, an Officer of the Urban Sanitary Authority.

(2) Charged with, on 29th May 1894, while keeping a common lodging house at 7 Berry Street, he unlawfully took in lodgers without the house being registered under the Public Health Act, 1875.

(3) Charged with, on 25th June 1894, while keeping a common lodging house at 7 Berry Street, he unlawfully took in lodgers without the house being registered under the Public Health Act, 1875.

(4) Charged with, on 25th June 1894, breaking a Bye-Law under the Public Health Act, 1875 while keeping a common lodging house at 7 Berry Street by failing to screen each individual bedroom.

(1) Verdict: Guilty. Fined 5s. and also to pay a further sum of 7s. 6d. for costs. In default of the payment: 14 days imprisonment.

(2) Verdict: Guilty. Fined 5s. and also to pay a further sum of 9s. 6d. for costs. In default of the payment: 14 days imprisonment.

(3) Verdict: Guilty. Fined 5s. and also to pay a further sum of 7s. 6d. for costs. In default of the payment: 14 days imprisonment.
