Dryad Writing Cards by Alfred Fairbank, with letter

Scope and Content

Set of Dryad Writing Cards by Alfred Fairbank, inscribed by Fairbank 'Peggy Kember from Alfred Fairbank, 9.3.1949', with accompanying letter, 9 March 1949, from Fairbank to Miss Kember, and envelope (now split apart) sealed on the back [by Fairbank], but missing its stamp. In the letter Fairbank comments 'I imagine the writing-patterns you learned at Singapore were those taught by the late Marion Richardson'.

Arrangement

The set comprises introductory notes by Fairbank explaining the aims of the exercises, then 10 cards: Rhythmical Exercises, Word Formation, Diagonal Joins (2 cards), Horizontal Joins, Capitals, and Exercises in the Completed Stages (plus Breaks) (3 cards). Card No. 1 is inscribed 'Kember' in red ink. A packet which contained the set, now split apart, has notes on pens printed on the front.
