Scope and Content

Papers and speeches, 1953-64, including: addresses to the Non-European Affairs Committee of the Rotary Club, and to the Institute of International Affairs on the administration of High Commission territories; notes on the economic development of the territories; correspondence with Christopher Mayhew concerning the prohibition of Patrick Duncan from the High Commission Territories; satirical verses on the South African scene composed by Sir Thomas.

Administrative / Biographical History

Sir Thomas Vaisey Scrivenor was the Deputy High Commissioner for Basutoland, the Bechuanaland Protectorate and Swaziland, 1953-1960. He had formerly worked for the Colonial Service in Tanzania, Palestine, Malta and Nigeria.
