CORONER'S ROLL FOR OXFORD

Scope and Content

Coroners' Rolls of this date were usually taken back to London by Justices of the Eyre, so to find one outside the Public Record Office is most unusual. Presumably, this roll was a separate copy made by the Coroner, John de Osney, for his own use. How it survived, and how it came to be with the rest of the collection, which dates from almost two centuries later, remains a mystery.
