Correspondence from Richard Cobbett (1814-1875) to John and Samuel Fielden, mainly on family and political matters. The letters to Samuel Fielden reveal a fairly close friendship (the two men were the same age), whereas those to John Fielden MP are concerned with the fortunes of the Champion (Richard Cobbett had minimal involvement with the newspaper, and was training to be a solicitor), and details of the legal case against the Todmorden overseers.
