Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter asking Rigby to take the enclosed letter, a petition and a copy of the new Millennial Gazette to the Archbishop of Canterbury. Owen goes on to say that he has not heard whether Lord John Russell has presented his petition as he requested. Owen says that it may be too strong for Lord Russell and the Archbishop but that it will serve his purpose of showing the government that he has given them every opportunity to investigate the subject.

Owen says that his daughter, Mrs Fauntleroy, and her children are with him and will be leaving for London the next day to go to the Crystal Palace. He says they will see Rigby in the evening. Owen is considering coming to London to see them off on the Friday before they return to the United States, however, he feels he may be more of a hindrance.
