Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter informing Rigby that he has written to Lord John [Russell] requesting him to return a petition to Rigby. Owen says that he also encloses a letter for Rigby to take to Lord Russell regarding the same.

Owen goes on to say that his daughter, Mrs Fauntleroy, and her friend Miss [Anna Maria] Goldsmid have been praising Rigby’s services. Owen says that in return he will make him Assistant Secretary to his Life and Death Society when it is established.

Owen concludes by asking what the name of the ship was that his daughter sailed in.

Enclosed is the letter to Lord Russell which Owen refers to in his letter to Rigby.
