Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter in which Owen asks Rigby to carry out various tasks on his behalf. The tasks include collecting a parcel which contains items for Rigby and Dr Travis, and taking petitions to various parties.

Owen goes on to say he has written to The Times respecting the treatment which he met with from the Chairman and Committee of the recent Education Congress. Owen says that I do not mean that business to remain as they intended, but to make as the Americans say ‘Capital’ (+good) of their universe + school bug like proceedings.

Owen concludes by saying he wishes Rigby and Mr Gregory to come to Sevenoaks so they can concoct a new campaign against the old system.
