Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter informing Rigby that there is some hope of being paid the money owed to him from New York as the party concerned has gone bankrupt.

Owen says he received a note from Rowland Hill informing him that the poor fellow who I so incautiously tempted [into stealing Owen's letter and money] cannot be found.

Owen complains that he has not received several newspapers. He goes on to say that he is sending 250 copies of part 8 of the New Existence to America as the newspapers there frequently extract from it. Owen concludes by saying that he has sent an article to the Daily Telegraph.
