Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter. Owen begins by saying that Mr Atkins and Mr Pemberton have left to look for a room to permanently exhibit the panarama in and he enquires about the suitability of the meeting hall.

Owen goes on to say that he has been contacted by a disciple of his called James Cowan. He claims to have invented a locomotive land battery that will destroy Sevastopol and the Russian armies.Owen asks if Rigby knows anything of him.

He concludes the letter by informing Rigby of amendments he wants making to an advertisement.
