Letter from George Skene to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter thanking Rigby for his letter and saying that he hopes to attend the postponed reading and also meet Rigby. He says that Rigby has known my name for a quarter of a century as one of the early movers in the cause of human happiness. Skene says that now he can only play a very small part in the progression to truth and rationality.

As a postscript Skene says that by accident this letter has been laid aside due to his anxiety in replying to a petition of the Attorney General in the matter of the Bedford Charity to be heard in the court of chancery as a finale to philanthropy.
