Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter telling Rigby he has done exactly as he wanted regarding the Liverpool banquet.

Owen goes on to discuss a matter concerning a lady named Mrs Reynold. It appears that many years ago Owen promised to lend her some money and she has now asked for it. Owen asks Rigby to give her £1 and says that he is very poor himself and has to borrow to pay his way.

Owen says he has written to Mr Cox to ask him to send a telegram to his son Robert Dale Owen in Rome telling him to meet his father at once at Cox's Hotel. However, Owen says that Mr Cox may have already left for Sevenoaks and asks Rigby to go to Cox's Hotel to check.
