Letter from John Howard Nodal to James Rigby

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter John Howard Nodal confirms the receipt of two letters from James Rigby. He claims that he cannot suggest any improvements on the plan for branches of the Co-operative League. However, he doubts the practicability of an arbitrary payment of one-third to the fund of the Central Society. He explains that Edward Vansittart Neale and others agreed with him.

Nodal continues to say that there has been no progress in opening a branch of the League in Manchester, and doubts this will be accomplished before winter.
