Letter from James Motherwell to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter informing Rigby that the Socialists of Paisley held a meeting to consider forming themselves into a section of the League of Social Progress. He notes that they agree to the rules but they consider the subscriptions too high and at the current rate he can only get 6 members. He believes that if they were reduced by one fourth he could get 30 or 40 members. Motherwell notes that no benefits will come to them other than the pleasure of assisting friends. He concludes by forwarding a donation from the Socialists of Paisley and wishes their success.
