Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter. Owen opens the letter by making reference to a note at the top of the page requesting William Cox pay ten pounds to James Rigby. He asks Rigby to take what he requires and use the rest to advertise the report of their meeting. Owen says he has also given a commission to Travis to pay for the stamps for the circulation of their report. However, if he does not wish to, then the commission will be given to Rigby.

Owen goes on to say that there is an error in the 1st edition of Mr Pemberton's explanation and he details the location of the error in case it can be corrected in time for the second edition.

Owen asks Rigby to call Mr Ernest Jones and tell him that if I had not been without favour I would have written to him and that he hopes his league continues.
