EPWELL PARISH RECORDS

Scope and Content

Epwell is a village in the north of Oxfordshire, a few miles to the west of Banbury. Until 1905, it was a chapelry of Swalcliffe, although it has always maintained its own registers. Since 1974, Epwell has been united with Sibford, Swalcliffe and Tadmarton.

The parish records of Epwell were originally deposited with the Bodleian Library in 1977, 1980 and 1982. Two appendices list the contents of each accession, and provide a concordance of old and new references.

Recataloged by Robin Darwall-Smith in September 1996.
