Scope and Content

Papers relating to EF's The Bet (1990), a puppet play with music composed by Erika Fox (b. 1936) and libretto by EF. The Bet was narrated by actor Leonard Fenton (born Leonard Feinstein in 1926 and cousin to EF's husband Arnold Feinstein), with music from the Feinstein Quartet featuring flautist Martin Feinstein (EF's eldest son, born in 1959). The play was first performed in July 1990 at the Almeida Theatre, London. It revolves around a mother's bet with the devil, the outcome of which is predicated on the future actions of her son.
