DUTTON FAMILY OF BAMPTON

Scope and Content

This collection consists primarily of title deeds to the family's property in Weald, which was purchased by Richard Dutton in 1794, but also includes wills, apprenticeship records, and genealogical entries from a family bible. Members of the family appearing in these documents were grocers and tallow chandlers; by the mid-nineteenth century they were using premises in Bampton as a grocer's shop.

The material catalogued below was received on indefinite loan in September 1986, via Shropshire Record Office, and was given accession number 2626.

Catalogued by Mark Priddey, June 1999.
