Administrative / Biographical History

The National Association of Men Teachers was formed in 1919 within the National Union of Teachers. In 1922 it broke away from the larger union and became the National Association of Schoolmasters. This in turn merged with the Scottish Schoolmasters' Association and the Union of Women Teachers in 1976 to become the National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers.
