Letters of Helen Bentwich to Caroline Franklin, from Cairo and Jerusalem, 3 Sep-13 Dec 1919, undated; from Britain, Jerusalem and Cyprus, 17 Feb-28 Sep 1920. Included in the latter sequence is a letter to 'Aunt Rosie'. The 1920 letters cover the arrival of Helen's uncle Herbert Samuel as High Commissioner, and the first outbreak of violence by Arab groups against Jews living in Jerusalem. An Executive Council was established on which Norman was joined by Wyndham Deedes, with whom the Bentwiches formed a long-standing friendship.
