      1 vol. (90 ff.), manuscript. Written by a single hand. Ff.78-90 are blank. Bound in brown leather boards with decorated gilt tooling on both covers and the spine. On the inside front cover there is a bookplate with a printed coat of arms and the words 'E LIBRIS ROBERTI MARCHIONIS DE CREWE' and the name 'Michael Phillips' written in pencil in a modern hand below it. On f.78v there is a pencilled drawing of a lady wearing a long dress and high heels and holding what appears to be a small lamp or goblet .

Scope and Content

Comprises 36 English verse satires on the behaviour of persons in high society during the reign of Charles II, including that of the king himself, many of them somewhat obscene.
