The papers consist of: a catalogue of communion tokens of the established Church of Scotland, 1908; notebooks, lists, auction catalogues, and correspondence relating to Campbell's collection of communion tokens; lists of church tokens in which they are listed alphabetically, by presbytery, and (United Free Church) by synod; and, off-prints about Scottish communion tokens, mainly by J. R. Lockie and R. Kerr.

Administrative / Biographical History
Montagu Douglas Campbell was born on 16 October 1852. He was Justice of the Peace, Renfrew, and had been attached to the 4th Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He received the DSO in 1901, and he served in South Africa. Lt.-Col. Montagu Douglas Campbell died on 12 February 1916.
