The correspondence relates to the emperor penguin specimens gathered by Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers and Apsley Cherry-Garrard during the winter journey to the Cape Crozier emperor penguin rookery, British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913 (leader Robert Falcon Scott).
