Plans: St Paul's Cathedral Precinct

Scope and Content

7 copy plans (84cm x 103cm) probably by the Town Planning Division of London County Council's Architect's Department showing historical ideas for the redevelopment of the precinct around Saint Paul's Cathedral in the City of London and the relative size of the cathedral in relation to other major historical cathedrals. The plans are overdrawn on Ordnance Survey Plans at 1:1250 scale and comprise:

  • Royal Academy plan, 1944
  • Holden-Holford plan, 1947
  • Sir Christopher Wren's plan, 1666
  • St Paul's Cathedral before the Great Fire, 1666
  • Sir William Holford's plan, 1956
  • St Peter's, Rome in relation to St Paul's Cathedral c1950
  • Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence, in relation to St Paul's Cathedral c1950
