George Sale (1697?-1736) was the translator of the first English version of the Qur'an. See the Dictionary of National Biography for details.

Entry to read in the Library is permitted only on presentation of a valid reader's card (for admissions procedures see http://www.bodley.ox.ac.uk).
Bought for the Radcliffe Library, Oxford, in 1760, and transferred from there to the Bodleian Library in 1872.
