Notebook comprises entries on geological fieldwork in County Down, Northern Ireland, 1904. Particular focus is made on the granitic rocks of the region and reference is made to analysis work by Samuel Haughton. Specimen numbers of material collected are prefixed by the letter ‘M’ standing for the Mourne Mountains. The notebook includes a description of three boxes of rocks sent back to Cambridge for processing.

Harker stayed at the ‘Queen’s Arms’ in Dundalk. On Thursday 13th September 1904, Harker travelled by train from Dundalk. Harker collected specimens ‘M11’ onwards (September 9th) and Newry Granites and specimens collected ‘M77 – M86’ (13th September).
