These volumes are not included in the original list compiled by Rose Elton, but the cuttings in them do appear to come from the Guardian, and, in the case of CEM/1/1/2/2 and /3, they also appear to be written by CEM. Due to the paper's policy of anonymity none of the cuttings in CEM/1/1/2/1 are signed so it is unclear which, if any, are by Montague. Those dating from before 1890 (the year in which CEM joined the staff) are obviously by other writers. It was customary for various different contributors to review the books, so this volume may include the work of a number of different writers.
