Scope and Content

Black and white photograph of a cityscape view of Rome, with the ruins of the Forum Romanum. In the right foreground is a pillared structure, and a stone archway [the Arch of Septimus Sevirus] behind it. On the left is a road with people sightseeing, and an elaborate domed building in the background. Pasted onto a page in the album, with a manuscript caption on the bottom white edge.

Reference: Encyclopaedia Britannica, 15th edition, Vol. IV. The pillared structure is the remains of the columns of Saturn's Temple.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

Poor condition. Yellowed, especially left, some mirroring, small faint patch of mould top left quarter. Production method: gelatin silver print.
