Scope and Content

28 Dec 1916 'There is a big battle going on a few miles away.' Bowerman intended to be home by the end of March - she and Brown would travel together, visiting Moscow and Kiev. They had a 'sumptuous' Christmas tea, with games and carols afterwards.

29 Dec 1916 Postscript. They were all ready for 100 wounded and expected them hourly.

30 Dec 1916 Two colonels from the British Mission had visited them and were sending their mail in their bag. The hospital was nearly full. The Russians were 'so cheery we feel we have almost got our own Tommies'. She had looted a pine tree lying beside the railway as they were out of wood.
