Scope and Content

Black and white photograph of a woman [Phyllis Ayrton?] standing by a board advertising that Miss [P] Ayrton will be speaking. She is standing by an iron fence, wearing a hat, dark skirt and knitted jacket / cardigan with a tie at the waist. To the right of the picture are two men, one only partially in the picture. Pasted onto a page in the album, with a manuscript caption on the bottom white edge.

Reference: The Suffrage Annual and Women's Who's Who. Ed AJR. 1913. Possibly Miss Phyllis Ayrton, Honorary Secretary of the Women's Social & Political Union, a speaker, and helped in by-elections.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

Poor condition. Very yellowed, pock marks to surface, abrasion top left corner. Production method: gelatin-silver print.
