Administrative / Biographical History
The Architects' Volunteer Training Corp recruited men for the Regular or Territorial Army and was recognised by the Architects' War Committee, the RIBA, the AA, Society of Architects, Surveyors' Institution, Auctioneers and Estate Agents Institute of the UK and the London Master Builders Association as the official corps for these professions and kindred trades. It also ran a reserves unit for men over the age of 38 or with a justifiable reason for not joining the regular forces. Its headuarters was at 18 Tufton St., the premises of the AA, and appears to have been run primarily by members of the AA.
