The Royal Foresters was a friendly society originating in Yorkshire, c. 1813; the Ancient Order of Foresters was a breakaway group, formed in 1834. The Foresters is a Friendly Society made up of affiliated branches. The Ancient Order of Foresters provided mutual financial support, including insurance and savings support for its members.
