Royal Economic Society meeting and arrangements for a meeting. Discusses a recent meeting at Cambridge of "conservative?reactionary? economists", which he attended. Participants included John Jewkes, Alan Peacock, Frank Paish, Stanley Dennison, D H Robertson, Peter Bauer and Anna Schwartz: "An enjoyable, if not very enlightening, week-end". Gave a talk on stability versus growth which he regards as a "false dichotomy". Harry Johnson leaving Manchester for Chicago, and Charles Carter appointed to succeed him.
