Scope and Content

From London, to Revd. George Marsden in Leeds, Yorkshire, describing the severe depression from which Clarke has been suffering for some time, and which has only partially been lifted by a trip to Bristol and Cornwall.

He has completed his Commentary on Exodus, and it should be printed within a few weeks. Reference is made to the difficulties of writing a Commentary as opposed to merely compiling one.

He mentions the conversions carried out in Portugal by two British Officers, who have been threatened with the loss of their commissions as a result. Their work is continuing.
