Described by Rowbotham: 'Copies of West Indian Gazette on Claudia Jones. Presented by Gertie Roche retired Leeds clothing worker active in the strike in the early 1970s. The papers were in the possession of her husband the late Jim Roche also an active trade unionist. Their friendship with Claudia Jones dates from their time in the Communist Party. They left in 1956, were involved in the new left and then in the Labour Party.' A black women's group in South London named themselves after Claudia Jones.
