Scope and Content

The material for 1951 -1952 consists of the prize winning essay, "The Historical Significance of the Career of Jenghiz Khan" with the motto "Dum Spiro Spero" by D.J. Everett. Typed document, 21 pages, undated.

The Minutes for 14 June 1951 record the appointment of Prof. Gibb and Dr. Waley as the Essay Prize Committee. In the report of the Anniversary Meeting in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, 1952, p.188, the titles of the essays were recorded and that the prize had been won by Mr.D.J. Everett of King's College, London. There is a further small report of the presentation of the award on p.191 of the same Journal.
