Scope and Content

Correspondence of Bier with A.F. Mondschein (known as Frederick or 'Fritz') and his wife, Betty, [also known as Fritz and Bertl Mondschein], the owners of Mondschein and Co. Ltd., an art dealing business based in New York. Topics discussed include negotiations and sales and purchases of works of art (including 4 Guardis from the Rothermere Collection and Rubens' 'Holy Family'); Bier's resignation as Director of Mondschein and Co. Ltd. [in London] in 1941 and his subsequent involvement in the firm; dealing in London and America during World War II (1939 - 1945) and Bier joining the army in 1942.
