School later known as Derwen Church of England Aided School.
Although records survive from 1870, Derwen school was built in 1858/59 (see plan). In 1870, there were 70 pupils in attendance and the headteacher at the time was I.R. Jones
In 1939 Evacuees from Liverpool were sent to the school as it was an initial reception centre
School was finally closed in July 1991 as numbers had fallen to just 9 pupils - 5 juniors and 4 Infants. Remaining pupils were transferred to Clocaenog.
