There is a explanatory note at the beginning by Muhammad Asfour, Cambridge, 29 August 1982: 'The following poems are the major part of those written by Jabra in English. The text was prepared from the author's typescript, and incorporates all his alterations.'

Administrative / Biographical History
Gabriel Jabra Ibrahim Jabra, writer and critic, matriculated at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, in 1940, where he studied English (B.A., 1943; M.A., 1948). He was the author of the novel Hunters in a narrow street (London, 1960).
