Ephemera relating to the Friends of Sadler’s Wells. Items included are leaflets promoting membership, membership cards, newsletters (October 1979, January 1980, March 1985, June 1992), poster, and circular letter. A programme to commemorate the unveiling of the bronze head of Sir Frederick Ashton presented by the Friends of Sadler’s Wells to Sadler’s Wells Theatre on 4 December 1989 is also included. The Friends was set up in 1971 ‘to enable the public to support the Theatre and to become more closely associated with its activities’. Members were able to take advantage of benefits such as discounted tickets and special events for members.
